Penarth (in South Wales) had a DH Urban race about 6 months after I left there to come live in Oklahoma, USA! Typical - as me and my buddies would always go riding down the same place they used for the course and get bitched out!

TRY TO UNDERSTAND that it's not just about YOU; you have family and friends. they will be left grieving if you were killed or brain damaged because you were too self-centered to wear a helmet. duboiss - I'm not being "a bitch" about helmets; I'm trying to get people who think it's all about "their choice" to reconsider. It's deemed cool to ride without a helmet - just remember that you don't wear it for the 20 or so crashes that you know about; you wear it for the 1 crash that you never see coming and that could kill you. I know more people who are active and experienced riders who would be dead today if they didn't wear their helmets. If you think it's still cool to not wear one, consider 10 of your closest riding buddies dead - THEN THINK AGAIN.

Anyone riding without a helmet has to realise that it's not about THEM, but about the people they leave behind. if this guy kills himself, then his family is going to be devastated. if he seriously injures himself then his family have to care for him and dress him/wipe his arse etc for the rest of his life. bottom line? don't be selfish and think of others; wear a helmet |
